Hello. I am a beginner who is interacting with a virtual environment for the first time. I am currently trying to export a virtual environment, but I don’t know how to do it. There are a few conditions, and I’m wondering if it’s possible.

  • The current disk extension of the VM is .raw.
  • I want to export it with the .vmdk extension.
I would like to know the conversion method, the export procedure, and the location where the raw file is saved. (I used ls in /var/lib/vz/images, but nothing was displayed.)

I need everyone's help. Thank you very much in advance.

Thank you very much. That was very helpful.

I have another question.
Currently, the VM is being operated disconnected from any external networks.
Since the OS of the VM is Windows, it needs to connect to the internet for updates (this is due to the client's requirements and cannot be changed).

To perform Windows updates, I would like to temporarily export the VM and perform the updates in another environment, then return it to the original (disconnected) environment.
Is it possible to "restore" the exported VMDK file to its original state?

Previously, I was using VMware, but I am considering migrating to Proxmox this time.
Thank you for your assistance.
