Evaluating ProxMox and failing on UEFI

Hi,

I'm trying to get ProxMox onto a laptop to evaluate it.

Every installation attempt fails on UEFI.

I can't fall back onto BIOS because the computer does not have it.

Error: proxmox bootloader setup errors failed to prepare efi boot using grub on /dev/nvme0n1p1 unable to install the EFI boot loader dpkg-divert warning please specify "--no-rename explicitly.

Well there sounds to be a solution but I'm not smart enough to utilize it.

I'ts an ASUS ZenBook NAN0CV05K957426, UEFI Ver: UX5401ZA.304

Any toughts?

In the meantime you can try installing Debian there - as a test to know if this is Proxmox-related or a more general problem.

the likely culprit is a pre-existing filesystem on your local drive. The installer is usually pretty good at dealing with it, but in your case clearly it isnt.

use a linux livecd like https://gparted.org/download.php and completely wipe the drive; retry installation.

Hi Everyone

I m trying to install proxmox in my DELL Poweredge R720 i have the dell perc H710p mini installed

so i have a raid 0 on 2 intel ssd's and although i managed to installed it the first time without any errors
i broke up the raid to install it directly on my drives but that did not hapeen since my hardware raid controller does not support mba mode
so i created the raid 0 again and whenever i try to install proxmox i get this error (see attached)

anyone has similar issue or can help ?

I tried to install Debian and it got further but I have to say that both proxmox and debian installation has a lot to improve.

Text is tiny on high resolution screens.

Error messages are funky for non-linux experts.

So I'm just gonna stay in the Microsoft World

No, blasted the drive with GParted before installation, completely empty, no partitions.

The Debian installation worked somewhat better, but still TINY, TINY text and bootloader problems.

TINY, TINY text is a display resolution problem that runs through linux distros, needs to be fixed.

That my ASUS ZenBook can't handle a grub bootloader, that might be on ASUS.

I have installed multiple Microsoft Hyper-V solutions via a shell (PowerShell) and the text always adapts to the resolution so you can see what you type and the error messages one gets.
