Let me preface this by saying i am extrememly new to proxmot and networking on a homelab setup.

So i have proxmox setup on a test box so i can start to learn and the install went ok and i was able to reach the internet just fine. After about 30 minutes access to the web portal drops out entirley. The box is still connected to the network as i can ping the host box, in this case 192.168.1.64 but when i try ot access the web page with 192.168.1.64:8006 it just comes up with "site can not be reached"

This is the same access i was using to connect to it previously though...as being a complete newbie i have no idea where to start looking. Any direction would be most helpful.

I will provide aditional information as needed

Unfortunately this is not enough information to determine the problem, are you sure there isn't another device using the same ip address? Try unplugging the ethernet cable and see if the ping still works, if it does some other device has that ip address.

Otherwise plug the ethernet cable back in and check on the network on the proxmox host itself

Ok so just got home from work so i was able to test.

1. Removing the thernet cord from the host box causing the ping to fail. Reconnecting the ethernet cable lets me ping the box so the ip is not being shared by any other device

2. Network setup --- Internet is a switch router combination, i have the proxmox box connected directly to this router (entually will have a dedicated switch but until this i am using what i have

3. pinging google directly from proxmox host box works just fine.

I restarted this system this evening and i can access the interface again.....

...So i tried to install a VM again and it appears that as soon as the install gets thru most of the way is when the etherent drops out and doesn't let me reconnect. rebooting the system does NOT fix the access to web page but hard killing the box and starting back up apears to

So it is definetly something associated w/ the install of Linux in the VM that is crashing proxmox. Only way to get it to reinitialize is to hard kill and reboot...
