Hi, for my home server I am looking to update my MX500 SSD on which Proxmox is currently running to a better one, specifically enterprise grade with PLP.

Based on the availability in my location I can get these (slight preference for m.2 since I have both slots available:
  • Intel D3-S4520 480GB M.2
  • Samsung PM893 240GB SATA III
Both support PLP, is there any preference for one over another? Down the road I would like to get a 2nd SSD to run Proxmox on a mirror, ideally that would be on a 2nd M2_1 slot, however that one has less speed. I presume that I would need at least same size SSDs for a mirror, and they don't have to be same model, correct?

This is my current motherboard:

Bash:
AMD® X370 Chipset
MSI X370 GAMING PRO CARBON
• 6x SATA 6Gb/s ports*
• 2x M.2 slots (Key M)*
- M2_1 slot supports PCle 3.0 x4 (RYZEN series
processors) or PCle 3.0 x2 (7th Gen A-series/ Athlon™
processors) and SATA 6Gb/s 2242/ 2260 / 2280/ 22110
storage devices
• M2_2 slot supports PCle 2.0 x4 and SATA 6Gb/s 2242/
2260 / 2280 storage devices**
* Maximum support 2x M.2 PCle SSDs + 6x SATA HDDs. Please refer to page
33 for M.2, SATA & PCle device combination table.
** PCI_E6 slot will be unavailable when installing M.2 PCle SSD in M2_2 slot.
SATA3 port will be unavailable when installing the SATA SSD card in M2_2
slot.

Also happy to hear any other SSD recommendations. This is the list I am looking at, but most of them are not very available on 2nd hand market where I live:
Code:
- P3600
- Intel D3-S4500/S4510/S4600/S4520
- Intel DC P3700 400GB (good for *cache drive*)
- Micron 5100 Pro/5300 Pro
- Micron 7300 / 7400 / 7450
- Samsung PM983 / PM9A3 / PM893 / SM883 / PM863(a),
- Kingston DC2000M
