Dropin Replacement for Existing KVM installation?

I am wondering if it would be possible to install proxmox2 on top of my management partition (currently Ubuntu 10.10) and not impack any of the LVM volumes where my VMs are stored. I ran through the install and it automatically plows the disk w/o offering any options for customizing the partition scheme.
