Hello,
I have a problem to install proxmox on raid5 or raid1 equipment. Configuration drive raid5 et raid1 are not recognise.

Actual Situation :
I have one poweredge server r720 with raid perc H310 Adapter. I put inside 5 drives 8to for raid5 and 2 drives 1to for raid1 and also 2 ssd hard drive.
Raid5 et raid1 are correctly recognise by the hardware bios.
I tryed to install proxmox on the raid1 hard drive but this hard drive raid1 is not recognise and also the hard drive raid5.
The only hard drive recognise are the ssd drive.

Test hard drive raid1 et raid5 :
after to have install proxmox on the ssd drive, proxmox application doesn't detect drive raid5 et raid1. I don't know reason why.

Windows:
If I tried to install windows server 2022 on this server, windows detect all drives raid1, raid5 and ssd drive but not the proxmox application.

Do you know if I need to type some command in proxmox to recognise raid1 et raid5 recognise by windows et not by proxmox ?
Thank you for you help
Best regards
Boris

There's a driver issue with H310/H3*0 ctrl's, use a H710/H7*0 ctrl. and it works fine.
Sorry, I don't plan to change raid controler on this server. If I install windows on this server, it's working with the raid1
Do you think possible to do some change on proxmox to recognise my raid card ?
thank you very much for your help

No, I don't think so, the forum is full of these H3*0 mostly unresolved issues, I think works just with pve 7.*.
A used H710/H720 is avail for the price of package of eggs (20€ ?) and has cache which the H3*0 series missed too, so it's much faster and working for just nothing to invest and any time for solving H3*0 problems is a waste.

Have you link to buy this kind of raid controler at 20 euros ?
Thank you for you explonation.

Don't know your model of poweredge but lots of have special slot bay for H710p for even less (12€) if not push into regular pci-e slot

below information about my server PowerEdge R720, my actual raid card is PERC H310 Adapter (PCI)
Let me know witch real controler I needed ?
I really appriciate your help about this issue.
Really strange issue. I will tryed maybe to install proxmox 7.4 to know if raid is recognise then upgrade to 8 if it's ok.
Best regards

As shown in your picture you still have a "H710 mini" so this Dell special slot which is just 1 available is already used.
Maybe you are able to connect all disks inside to the H710 also away from the H310 or exchange the the H310 with a regular pci-e slot 2nd H710 (30€).
Another option is as UdoB said to flash the H310 and use zfs if you are more happy that way.

I would flash them to "IT-mode" and run ZFS :-)

See: https://fohdeesha.com/docs/perc.html

That's just me of course; ymmv!

It's seems not easy to upgrade raid card.
I have just tryed to install proxmox version 7.4 and the raid seem's recognise. I will continue investigation and tryed to upgrade version 8 after and check if the raid is always and not recognise. I will let you know about this. Thank you again for your help

Card swap is very easy if you have one ... :)
I mean but not sure after upgrade to 8.* the disk (maybe) is unfortunately "gone" ... :-(
Report your result which takes just few minutes to update and reboot ... aeh, just to try to boot ... no boot disk found ... ?!

Thats not actually necessary on this "fakeraid" card. Linux ignores any raid on these and will treat the drives individually anyway, which is why the OP was complaining in the first place.

@Boris Krizan just treat this as an HBA and you can make a ZFS mirror at install time.

edit do not make raid volumes at the bios level.
