Difference between CPU and Core in Container

Hello, i have a little question, what is the main difference betwenn the CPU and Core settings inton a container.
Indeed, I am the manager of a hosting company and I want to optimize my infrastructure so that my VM consume as little as possible

Core means that you "see" the number of cores if you have a look at /proc/cpuinfo, CPU limit means slices of time given to the container to restrict its priority (in comparison to other containers).
