Hello everyone,
Is it possible to enable the DHCP function on the network card of Proxmox to avoid using a fixed IP address? I need this to be able to move the Proxmox from one network to another without losing access to it. Or is there another way to achieve this?

What I need to do is:
Physically take the Proxmox server, power it down, move it 120 km, and power it up on another network where I know the addressing scheme. However, if I change the IP while it’s still running, I won’t be able to reach it to shut it down.

Thank you.

Okay, but if I currently access it via the web using 192.168.10.130, and I move it to a network with 192.168.200.xxx, while my PC is on that same network, if I open a browser and type 192.168.10.130, it won’t respond. What do I do? Sorry, but I don’t understand this step.

On the new target NW - connect a monitor & keyboard to the server & after booting up edit the /etc/network/interfaces file using the new requested IP address , CIDR & gateway, usually on vmbr0. Save, exit & reboot. If you have any LXCs & VMs already on that PVE server that have GW/s or IP/s statically set, they may also need reconfiguring.

It is not difficult & I still think this is the preferred option.

@miranpiscanc , the other option is to stage your new configuration in appropriate files, shutdown your server, ship it, and power it back on.
If you triple check everything, then it should "just work" in new location. If it doesn't, go with local monitor/keyboard.

The more reliable way is to have a server with IPMI management. You can set IPMI to dhcp and either configure the server via that console, or have a recovery option in case of a failure.

Good luck

Okay, thanks, but via Shell? What is the command to configure the interface? I'm not familiar with it, so if you could write it out precisely, for when I'm connected with a monitor and see the prompt root@proxmox:~#

Proxmox is based on Debian Linux. You are looking for basic Linux network administration information.
Perhaps start here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJ7m-mkNIjg

You are running a hypervisor - install a PVE as VM and experiment there.

Good luck
