Detached disk, now can not delete it, or reattach it

I selected a VM and detached one of the disks. I wanted to reclaim the storage. I am now caught in a cycle where I can not do anything. If I try to delete the disk from the LVM, I get "
Cannot remove image, a guest with VMID '100' exists!
You can delete the image from the guest's hardware pane"

However, the disk is no longer present in the guest's hardware pane. I've tried qm rescan. I have not been able to figure out how to reattach the disk or do anything with it.

Please help!

Is there no unused0 in the hardware panel?
Can you run :
qm config [vmid]
pvesm list [storage]

If you see the disk in above list output, you can use : pvesm free [storage:disk]

However, be careful. There is no bumper against selecting and destroying wrong disk. Measure twice before cutting.

Thank you! the unused hardware was there. I just didn't see it. Still getting used to the UI. I used pvesm free [storage:disk] and that did the trick.
