Hi all,

I'm doing some upgrades to my network. I've got my servers ready but not sure what/how much traffic goes through for each piece of the puzzle.

I have 4 Proxmox boxes and 2 FreeNAS boxes.

On the Proxmox boxes I was thinking of setting up with (all GbE):
(When I say +x it indicates redundancy of both physical NIC and switch)

1+1 connections in failover mode connected to managed switches for WAN connectivity
1+1 connections in round-robin to unmanaged switches for Proxmox management LAN
2+2 connections in round-robin to unmanaged switches for connection to storage LAN

On the FreeNAS boxes:

2+2 round-robin connections to storage LAN

Questions:

1. What traffic goes through the Proxmox interface in these circumstances:
--VNC
--If I move a drive between FreeNAS boxes
--Live migration
--Any other important considerations?
2. I'm aware of the multicast on the Proxmox interface, would I benefit in a noticeable way from going to managed switches so I can use IGMP snooping?
3. Is any of this severe underkill/overkill?
4. Am I missing anything?
