Dell SAS HBA PCIe with Tape Drive

Hello,

We are testing ProxMox to virtualize our Dell R710 configuration. Our existing setup uses Dell SAS 6Gbps HBA PCIe cards that connect to a LTO6 Tape backup drive. We use Veritas Backup Exec on a Windows server (which we may virtualize).

Does ProxMox pass the PCI card to a Windows VM so that Backup Exec can be used? Has anyone successfully done this?

Yes. I often have done this. But it is depending on your hardware. Pleas check the Dokumentation for. Proxmox have a Backupsolution integrated in the Webinterface. With a few clicks you have installed a backupjob.
