Dell R730xd Install 9.1 Error SWC0700

I am installing Proxmox VE 9.1 on a Dell PowerEdge R730xd.
After selecting the installer and loading the ISO, the server suddenly reboots by itself.
On the next boot, the Dell system displays the following error message:


If I use Proxmox VE 9.0, the installation works normally without any errors.

The error seems quite clear to me. Not that I have that type of hardware, but I would actually to do what it says, including resetting the whole BIOS into factory defaults and trying again, given there's nothing to loose.
 
The issue with restoring the BIOS to factory settings still persists.
When switching to the 6.14 kernel, everything works normally.
However, as soon as I use the 6.17 kernel, the system keeps rebooting and shows errors.

I'm getting the same error, were you able to fix it?
 
We are still waiting for an official fix.
Currently we are running the 6.14.x kernel, because the issue has not been resolved yet.

We will wait for a newer 6.17.2-1-pve (or later) kernel update from the Proxmox team to see if the problem is addressed in an upcoming release.
 
I have tested on 2 different R730 servers, one of which has the latest iDRAC and BIOS versions, and the error persists.

It has no issues on Dell 12-gen and 14-gen servers, nor on Supermicro X11 motherboards. I can also confirm selecting the older kernel manually fixes the issue temporarily.

UPDATE: per this comment, enabling SR-IOV Global and I/OAT DMA fixed the issue on both R730s.

Thank you. After enabling SR-IOV and I/OAT DMA Engine, the system runs normally when using the 6.17 kernel.

Hello,

I have the exact same issue with a Dell R730xd. I understand that enabling some BIOS options fixed the problem.
However, this seems unsatisfactory to me. Does anyone know why those options are required with kernel version 6.17 but not with 6.14? What changed between those kernels that broke the boot sequence? Is there a real fix planned in the kernel?

This also worked for me. I did update my iDRAC and BIOS along the way. After updating the iDRAC and BIOS the problem remained. But once I enabled these items, the system booted. Not sure if it was the update AND these settings that were required, or if just setting these items was required.
