Hi,
I have Debian and Windows server VM on Proxmox 8.1.3.
In somehow, Debian VM starting grub screen. I restored VM from backup but nothing changed?
I could not understand is it coming from Debian VM or Proxmox?
By the way I can't shutdow or restart Debian VM either?!
That's probably because the QEMU Guest Agent is not running (since it does not boot). I'm not sure disabling Guest Agent in the VM options would help, since GRUB might not respond to ACPI events.
Unfortunately, I have no idea what broke your VM. Did you test restore from backup before or try to restore a earlier backup? Maybe the problem is already in the backups?
I would suggest to do a GRUB Rescue. Lots of guides on the internet on how to get a Linux VM with GRUB booting again.
Hi,
I already restored but I think same problem in backup file too.
I'm not sure this error comes from Deban VM or Proxmox? Because of this I don't want to play/broken Debian VM either.
I want to startup VM from Debian İnstalation CD incase of recue but it starts directly grub not from CD?! This is also suspicious for me.
Hi,
Yes. I can start with the Debain 12 setup disk now.
But I can not be sure now if this error comes from Debian VM or from Proxmox?!
P.S: I found below information:
Please check you computer's firmware/BIOS to verify if it is configured to boot an "UEFI boot loader" or a "legacy boot loader". If it is possible, try to boot grub as "UEFI boot loader".
May it be the reason? But I did not change anything after the first create Debain VM?!
Hi,
I got it finally. I use https://www.supergrubdisk.org/ to startup Debian VM. When the Debian booted I use update-grub command.
Now everything is Ok.
Thanks for your kind helps.
