Hello,

when a proxmox server is accessed remotely by a browser and noVNC is used to connect to say a Debian VM, how to replace noVNC by steamlink then? (edit)

Thank you.

Install steam (not SteamOS) as an application inside the VM and use steamlink on the remote system. This is not Proxmox specific and you would do the same with physical machines. I'm sure there are lots of guide on this on the internet.

Appreciate the clarity of the comment. I found that installation of both steam and steamlink are straightforward on Arch Linux. They work very well i.e. no mouse lag etc. and could be used for Desktop sharing only.

I also figured that I do not need them but simply use SPICE instead. I stumbled across this very easy method to deal with the cumbersome mouse lag. noVNC seems to be using it once selected on pve under Hardware/Display/SPICEas long as the spice-vdagent is installed in the VM. Thus, problem solved.

Just for the records: as mentioned here SPICE on Windows needs to re-check Proxmox/Options/Tablet even when on. One advantage of Steamlink, however, is the fullscreen mode - does an equivalent exist for a SPICE display?
