Hi I have Proxmox running on a mini pc with no other operating system. It's been running for around 3 years with no problems, I upgraded to 9 around a month ago again with no problems. For around a week now Ive been waking up every morning to find the computer fully shut down, I start the system and everything works perfectly until the next morning when again the system is off. I haven't added or altered anything in proxmox only installed updates through the UI as I have always done. Can anyone shed any light on what may be causing the system to shut down ? I'm running Home Assistant, Pi hole and Plex in Proxmox as I have always done. Thanks

I'm very green to this having followed YouTube and used helper scripts to get everything up and running.

The first thing is to look into the journal: journalctl -b -1 -e = show the end (-e) of the previous (-1) boot.

Good luck then. Learning by doing is fine! Just try to understand what you are doing... ;-)

I have no idea what all this means sorry
Yeah, system logs are hard to read most of the time. There is no error listed.

Maybe there has been a non-logged event? For example a power fail would not get logged, because... there is no power.

It's after this that the system shuts down. If the system crashed I'm guessing it would be in the log ? But then would it not show a shutdown sequence if it was doing through a command ?

Usually on a (manually initiated) normal shutdown, you would see messages for all VM/CTs and services being shut down graceful.
On a kernel/driver crash, you would see some kind of problem logged (unless the problem causes a drive disconnect) and the system typically reboots or freezes. Often with error messages on the physical display (if connected).
A shutdown/power-off is a bit strange and suggest a power loss or (aging) PSU issue. Possibly a overheat problem. Or possibly a wall power or power grid hick-up that is too much/little for the PSU.

So you think the system is working doing various jobs at that time pulling a little harder on the psu which is cutting out. Would explain why it's doing it at the same time every day ? I have backup power which also covers the unifi controller which is fine. I'll change the pus

I don't think the system is doing various jobs and stressing the PSU at that time. It's just that a shutdown is typically a power loss (like tripping a protection in the PSU) or a overheat problem.
There is nothing in the lots to suggest that the "same time" is caused from within Proxmox. Maybe something else in the house does something around that time each day?
If you have a UPS then a power loss (without logging) is really weird but often it turns out that the UPS is old and has begun to become unreliable. Maybe test a night without UPS?
