I decided to test Proxmox VE 2.1. For testing I have a PC box with a built-in atheros 8161 NIC, wich is not supported by Proxmox. I found a driver module for this NIC in the latest version of compat-wireless project ( the module name is alx ). But i don't manage to compile it on my proxmox box. Have anyone managed to to that?

The mobo in the box have only PCI-e slots and an Ivy Bridge CPU with PCI-e 3.0 support, so none of PCI-e NICs i tried to install doesn't work an any OS. The only hope is to compile compat-wireless (http://www.orbit-lab.org/kernel/compat-wireless-2.6/2012/07/compat-wireless-2012-07-03-pc.tar.bz2)

This NIC is not wireless. It's an integrates Gigabit Ethernet Atheros 8161. It's supported in alx (http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/networking/alx), which is part of compat-wireless project (this one is now renamed to compat-drivers, but no downloads until 3.7 kernel will be available).

Ah, I see, That seem a quite new development, and there seem to be no support for older kernels.
I am curios, what distri provides working drivers for that?
