Hello,
I Have an Proxmox host (singol node) with a dozen of virtual machines (Firewall, IP Pbx, old Win 7/10 machines coming from P2V of old PC, one webmin NAS and 5 new Win11 VMs).
For the Firewall, IP PBX, Webmin NAS and new Win11 machines that are current used daily I need a certain level of availability (restore maximun in 4 hours).
For the old machines/VM is only important have a backup to restore it if it is neccessary.
I have at disposal a remote site/building at workplace/company where to install a second Proxmox new node (in case of clustering or Sync) connected with home by a wifi link with a band of 110-120 Mbits (similar of a 100Mbit network cable). Actually the 2 sites are dotated of a couple of lan Switch managed with VLANs used to pass in both directions the 3 internet WANs available (1 in home site and 2 in workplace site) for mutual failover.
My needs are:
1) Permit to switch-off the Proxmox home node during period of vacations (nobody at home) and trasfert (automaticly) all the VMs to the homework site Proxmox node.
2) have the 2 nodes syncronized and with all the VM available in case of failure of the home node or of the remote node
3) maximum downtime 4 hours
4) HA or quick return at operations (max 4 hours) for the VMs currenty used daily (locally or remotely)
5) Backups of VMs localy and on a QNAP already available at workplace
6) almost one or two VMs stay preferrable in workplace Node for load balancing and full network speed, instead of home node (this machine are windows clients of the company network)
I read a lot of forum discussions where are discussed the issues of HA, Clustering, Replication and Migration but I have some confusion in what would be better in my case.
Appreciate a lot your suggestions.
Regards
FAB
