Cluster with 2 Nodes + tiebreaker for quorum

Hi,

I'd like to setup a HA-cluster with a quorum which usually requires 3 nodes. Is it also possible to just use 2 normal nodes (for running VMs, ...) and a 3rd small node that just acts as a tiebreaker. That way I would have the split-brain security of a 3 node cluster but only need the hardware for 2 nodes + a really small node.

I know that this is possible for GlusterFS and for a Galera Cluster, too. But is this also possible for Proxmox?

Regards,
Michael

Hi,

Yes this is the recommended way.

If you use HA then you have to restrict the VM/Ct to the big nodes.

This works only with corosync protocoll 1x.
In PVE 4.x we use corosync 2.x.
