Cluster + shared storage

Hi,
I need to set up a high availability (HA) environment. The plan is to use 2x Dell R650xs servers plus a small computer as a witness for quorum. Unfortunately, I don't have a clear idea for shared storage. Initially, I considered QNAP with iSCSI, but I’d like to have snapshot capabilities. That probably leaves NFS, but I’m concerned about performance, especially because of a virtual machine running Windows Server and MSSQL. Do you have any suggestions for this?

Hello @bitlan, welcome to the forum.

Starting with PVE 9, you now have the ability to preview snapshot technology that’s compatible with iSCSI-type storage:
https://kb.blockbridge.com/technote/proxmox-qcow-snapshots-on-lvm/

Even if you use this option, whether your overall infrastructure will be performant enough depends on factors such as your CPU, RAM, NICs, and the disks inside your QNAP. Likewise, whether what you build can be considered Highly Available depends on the QNAP’s redundancy options and on your network infrastructure (e.g., redundant switches).

Cheers
