Cluster Failover

Hi everyone

We currently use the free VMWare server stuff, but after upgrading to version 2 I feel like the it has taken a step backwards.

I like the look of proxmox as it would allow us to combine our linux and Windows servers more effectively by using OpenVZ and KVM respectively.

However, what I'm looking for before committing is a method of failover should one of the hosts fail- I'm a bit confused about the clustering and LVM stuff- do I need to wait for the shared storage development before I can switch the machines easily over to say, Host B in the event that Host A fails?

Thx

You can use shared storage right now - although you will have to configure bits and pieces on the command line - it's not very complicated.

But thinking farther - do you know the answer to the question: "what happens if your shared storage (SAN) fail, not the Proxmox VE box"?

Yep. We buy a SAN with automatic failover. :D

I can't find anything to do with this in the documentation, how would I set it up (briefly)?

Ah there's another thread about this going on. So I could use DRDB and LVM to ensure the storage on each host contains the same information? Is that right?

If so I'll have to move some server stuff around to free up a suitable box! :)
