Hello,
I have got some servers with Proxmox installed.
One has 128GB RAM and when I run free, I can see, that there is all the time about 70GB of cached memory.
I found script, which cleans cached memory.
Is it safe to use it? Why is so much memory cached?

It's caching even swap sspace and there is empty RAM space...It it really problem for us and we are restarting it everyday. We have controlling systems, which alert us when server doesn't have enough ram etc...So we are trying to stop it.

It is just caching to the ram because you have much ram available and the ram is faster than your disks. Your servers should be performing much better with the cache than without. As soon as other applications need the ram, the ram is given back to the applications.

Why are you restarting? Do you think you have any performance issues? Or are you just restarting to keep as much ram "free" as possible?

If the problem is just with your monitoring software, I suggest you configure it correctly or get different monitoring software that fully understands cached memory.
