I shall be putting some hours aside to try this out!
Also Chelsio are supporting Debian based distros through their self-compile drivers, it's just they do not submit their drivers upstream as they work to a delayed schedule in comparison to distro Kernel version increments. For production this is not so much of an issue because the longer we stay back the wiser, thankfully the new drivers are here now.
