Dear developers,
I really have an empty pocket at the moment (don't we all?), so, I would really like to receive a sensible recommendation of a cheap (or cheapest) RAID card that's compatible with Proxmox.
Indeed, my only (now and future) need is to make RAID1 with 2 drives. So, no parity information for XOR processors.
My concern is only to keep the system working in case one of the hard drives fails. Nothing more than this.
The system is connected to a UPS. Anyway, I read somewhere that the preferred method to avoid loosing cache data is using write-through, even if performance is slower.
So, I don't mind exchanging performance for availability of the system in case of hard disk failure.
What RAID card would you recommend in this scenario?
The cheapest hardware RAID I've found untill now, is the Adaptec AAR-2410SA, for PCI 64bit/66 MHz bus, but compatible with PCI 32 bit/33 MHz (even if limited to 133MB/s)
It's sold at about 65€.
Is there any cheaper one?
