Hi,
I'm currently setting up my homelab. I've had one setup in the past with 3 node HA on some mini pcs, but now decided to incorporate my NAS server as a node and in the process switch my setup to 3 (currently 2 + qdevice) full servers.
Currently node 1 has 2x1GbE and 2x10GbE, while node 2 has 2x2,5GbE and 2x10GbE. Both are connected to a 10GbE switch. Node 3 in the future will be the same setup as node 1, but I'm currently waiting for some parts and run it in 2 node HA setup with a qdevice.
When setting up, I wanted to use CEPH for data storage of the VMs. Therefore I dedicated 1 10GbE NIC each to CEPH, while the other 10GbE should be for guest traffic.
Now I had my first scheduled restart due to a kernel update and discovered that I made a mistake setting up the cluster.
My aim was that I not only have a fast guest- as well as storage connection, but also fast live migration over 10GbE. But when setting up I chose a 1GbE NIC on node 1 and a 2,5GbE NIC on node 2. Of course the migration was bottlenecked by the 1GbE NIC.
So, now I want to change the corosync network to one of the 10GbE NICs with the 1 (or 2,5 GbE) NIC as backup.
So two questions arise for me:
1.: Which of the 10GbE NICs do I choose? The one assigned to CEPH traffic or the one without a dedicated IP destined to be guest traffic? Keep in mind that it is a homelab and I don't run mission critical stuff on it, so deminished performance is ok, as long as migration is faster than 1GbE speed.
2.: How do I go about assigning the corosync traffic to the new nic? When setting up the cluster I selected the network, but I can't find a setting screen in the UI to change this now.
