How much of a hassle is it to change kernel to a newer one?
5.4 is too old for my very new hardware, unfortunately.
I need 5.10, or at least 5.9 (maybe works) to get my hardware working without
the hassle to load drivers by myself.

Is it very complicated to change kernel on proxmox? Is it a bunch of special stuff
loaded in the current kernel? I have no trouble changing the kernel on one of my
ubuntu servers, but it maybe is different on proxmox?

When will proxmox use newer kernel approximately?

Proxmox uses the ubuntu focal kernel with some patches and adds zfsonlinux as module.

If you know what you are doing it's easy, but you lose any support and have to build all upgrades yourself.

Depending on your hardware the build also may take quite some time.

Don't use it for production servers.
