Hello,

i'm looking to use Proxmox Ceph my servers configuration the following.

2U 8 x bays

240 SSD
7 x 4TB enterprise drives
1 x PCI SSD as journal

The main issue is that motherboard have 8x SATA2 and 2x SATA3 ports , So i can't use all drives in SATA 3 port the tech guy telling me that using LSI 9210-8i SATA/SAS HBA Controller but i don't need to use any RAID Card so my last choice would be to use the 8 x SATA 2 ports, but would make it slower so how can avoid this issue or the Ceph won't care and will gives me the Same speed i'm looking for?

Hi,

SATA2 provide 300MB/s what should be enough for a sinning disk.
Im not sure about the latency but I think this is not a big deal.
