Hi,

in a Ceph cluster of 3 nodes, each of one has 4 HDD disks and 4 SSD disks, is it better to create a single pool for each VM/CT or is better to use a small number of larger pools?
In other words, is it better to have many small pools or few larger pools?

Thank you very much

Not for single VM/CT. Pools are used to configure settings like replica count, allocation, replication, etc... . To have different classes of storage (eg. ssd / hdd pool), you would create two pools that use different crush rules to distribute the placement groups (PGs).

More information and how to do it, can be found here: https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/chapter-pveceph.html
