Ceph member without OSDs?

Would it be possible to add a node to my cluster and let it access Ceph without itself having any OSDs?
I'm thinking of adding disks later.

No, please look at the link. Just create a RBD storage.

Exactly. If you don't limit the storage to certain nodes, it will always try to mount/map it on every node in the cluster.
