One question out of a few experiments:
What is the prerequisite for the Ceph GUI to communicate with the cluster?
I always thought the monitor daemon is needed on a node to have a working Ceph GUI on that same node. But today we tested to deploy big clusters with few monitor nodes. So we had a cluster with three nodes, one mon on every node. Then we added a forth node, but did NOT install a monitor. As expected even after "pveceph install" there was at first no working Ceph GUI on that node's tab. But immediatly after creating osd with "pveceph createosd" we had access to all ceph features on the GUI.
I did not find anything about that in the docs, so could please someone explain to me, what exactly is the needed counterpart or what ist the prerequisite to have a working ceph GUI?
