can't see usb device in vm?

hi
set up a debian openvz vm. installed usbutils but when I issue a lsusb nothing is returned....
when I run lsusb direct from proxmox I can see the device
how do I make it visible from the vm? (sorry if this has been answered before but couldn't find the answer in search!)

thanks for your feedback but there is no specific reference to usb....
I came across this
--devices b|c:major:minor|all:[r][w][q]|none
Give the container an access to a block or character device des-
ignated by its major and minor numbers. Device file have to be
created manually.

any insight from the linux gurus out there? sadly I've spent most of my life dealing with windows....

I guess it is not possible to list all usb devices inside a container. But you can allow access to specific devices, for example http://wiki.openvz.org/USB_Printing_in_VE
