Via PBS UI, I see proxmox-widget-toolkit is available for upgrade.
When I try I get

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.

ANy clues?

Well..., learn some basics of the command line interface. Then use "ssh" to get a "root-shell" or go to "Administration --> Shell" for ad-hoc access via the browser.

Then run that quoted command. If you get more errors post them here. (Please use
...
-Tags for that.)

Best regards :-)

Thx for your education!

But before I start messing up with all this, it makes sense to ask why the upgrade does not work the way it was designed

Without a complete log of the failed update we can't do very much I fear. You could try whether you find some clues in /var/log/dpkg or /var/log/apt
