I just installed a fresh proxmox and have installed windows server 2008 on it. I have disabled the firewall in windows & enabled RDP but I can't connect to RDP. Does anyone know what the problem is? I can connect with vnc but I want to use windows RDP

can you ping the IP address from the pc where you try to connect by RDP? if can you telnet on the RDP port? (in other words, be sure you can reach RDP address+port)
if you mean the pve VNC console, then VNC is done by pve server, which can reach the windows server, and then redirected to your browser, it is not a direct vnc connection (you would need a vnc serve in windows for that)

Assuming you are not doing any kind of NAT with the ProxMox host, this has nothing to do with ProxMox. A virtual machine should act like a physical machine on the network. If it has an IP address and can reach the network, then you can reach it from the same network as well. If you are doing NAT with your host, then your HOST is acting as a router in which case you need to forward ports for it to work properly.
