I am trying to install proxmox on my laptop, has I already have 2 servers, but the laptop USB ports are broken, I've been trying Ventoy on it but error after error, now I get Unable to read base file count with Ventoy, if anyone could help that would be great!

I would recommend to try not using ventoy, I've had several issues while trying to install all kinds of machines and it almost always resolved with a clean USB stick.

If the laptop has a DVD drive, just burn the ISO to dvd and boot that.

Otherwise you could remove the laptop disk, put it on a PC or another laptop or something, install, and put the disk back. You will probably have to correct the NIC names.

However - if you're trying to use a broken laptop for a hypervisor - it might just be time for a new/used laptop. You can get some decent quad-core i5's online for under $200. Sometimes you have to invest in a better potato for a decent end-user experience.

I would recommend re-tasking the broken one for proxmox backup server, as long as it has at least ~1TB drive.

Another option would be SD card - if the Laptop has a (working!) built-in card-reader & the BIOS allows booting from it.

I agree with Kingneutron above, a broken Laptop isn't the optimal HV.
