Hi All,

I have the card inserted into a fresh latest stable of Proxmox and using this Dell branded Intel card with a genuine Cisco 10Gbit LR SFP+ module

running lspci I can see the card:

Code:
86:00.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82599ES 10-Gigabit SFI/SFP+ Network Connection (rev 01)
86:00.1 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82599ES 10-Gigabit SFI/SFP+ Network Connection (rev 01)

But I do not actually see the interface names for each port.

ip addr shows my onboard 1/2,5GB nic working but not the 10Gbit ones

Code:
root@home:~# ip addr

I also ran this:

root@home:~# lsmod | grep ixgbe
ixgbe 483328 0
xfrm_algo 16384 1 ixgbe
mdio 12288 1 ixgbe
dca 16384 1 ixgbe
root@home:~#

Further, I can see the card interfaces are 'UNCLAIMED' running this command:

Code:
sudo lshw -C network

*-network:0 UNCLAIMED
       description: Ethernet controller
       product: 82599ES 10-Gigabit SFI/SFP+ Network Connection

I can see a link light on my switch for this... so I ran this command

root@home:/dev# lspci -k | sed -n '/Ethernet/,/Kernel modules/p'

Code:

Can someone point me in the right direction, I've added a line to the grub file to allow unsupported SFPS but it makes no different. I dont understand why i dont see the interface names

I think its these probing errors -5 on ixgbe that are the issue. I cant find anything about error 5
