Cannot EDIT older thread, my own ...

I put it up here as general post as it must be forum - wide, I suppose.

I cannot edit my own thread / post:
https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/o...s-how-to-bypass-ssh-known_hosts-bug-s.137809/

Typically, this does not matter to me, but in case of these "tutorials", I certainly do not see a point why to let anyone who finds it be able to find "most recent" information only after digging deep down.

It appears I was able to make an EDIT last time shy of 6 months from INITIAL post.

Is this thread / user based? Can this be disabled for TUTORIAL types of threads or starting threads in general?

This is (not only, but it's a big reason) an anti-spam measurement on sleeper accounts.
Users with fewer posts and activity and such will even get shorter "can edit" times, if all that spammers need is to set a tutorial flag it defeats the main purpose.

FWIW, the "TUTORIAL" prefix is a bit unfortunate, we had a "HOW-TO" earlier, but some users misinterpreted it as "how to do something" prefix, thus it was changed to "TUTORIAL"; albeit there were some opinions to just drop it, as the forum is mostly targeting question and answer (where long edit time is not required, one can just post the followup as new reply) style posts, and in general not the best channel for tutorials.

Thank you for your reply. Generally, it's fine for me, I can of course post these as "stubs" and put them up instead as e.g. gists, but it also does not solve the problem:

In the said case, I was at least able to make additions on top that it became obsolete (bug was fixed in that short timespan), but there can be cases when these posts advise something that is even terribly out of date.

I cannot even edit the title, it's not good experience.

NB If you ask/suggest me to post these not into the Proxmox forum, there's another issue - you do not own the content, so technically you cannot just copy & paste into the wiki, which is kind of also why I make these as "tutorial", to allow for that, e.g. case in point:

BZ: Do not use GRUB quiet as default - you are not doing this and that's your prerogative, but when I suggest to at least document it, you can just take it from here already.

I mark these as "tutorials" because simply I would need to repeat myself so many times, it's easier to point someone there when asking "what's on the screen".

I do not think I am going to turn into a spammer after ~2000 messages now. :)

We do not own the content, that makes not much sense to say for IP anyway, but when creating an account you agreed to the terms and rules, which you surely read and thus know that you agreed to the following:
You are granting us with a non-exclusive, permanent, irrevocable, unlimited license to use, publish, or re-publish your Content in connection with any of our services. You retain copyright over the Content.

So, yes, if we wanted we could use any post's content here and put it up in the wiki or what not. But I don't think you need to be afraid of that. EDIT: and for completeness’ sake, in general we do not just republish stuff without a notice and talking with the one that made it.

lol. FWIW, we saw also attackers using existing accounts that are, well, were, legit but got hi-jacked.

Okay, this turned strange. Always looking for the worst possible interpretation because it's from me? :)

I meant "you" = Proxmox (exactly for the reasons you stated).

You can just use it. I do not want to be signing CLAs, what I post here is yours. I know, you don't want it, no matter what. :)

Well, I tried ...
