cannot activate storage

Hi,
suddensly i started getting: TASK ERROR: could not activate storage 'backup1': backup1: error fetching datastores - 500 Server closed connection without sending any data back
and i can't figure out what might be causing it.

when issueing: proxmox-backup-client version --repository pbs_ipOOL1

root@hyper:~# proxmox-backup-client version --repository pbs_ip:POOL1
could not connect to server - connection error: Connection reset by peer (os error 104)
client version: 1.1.14
root@hyper:~#

OR

root@hyper:~# proxmox-backup-client version --repository pbs_ip:POOL1
client version: 1.1.14
server version: 2.2.6
root@hyper:~#

any clues? why the connection is reset?
