Hello everybody,
I got the problem that my proxmox server doesn´t come up. I think this is because of multipath and lvm. We are booting our servers from SAN and suddenly it wont boot again.

Now I have the problem that I´m unable to chroot into an lvm since it always tells me cannot active lvcs in vg because of duplicate appereance. If I try to do it with a debian rescue CD and choose /dev/pve/root for chroot the system tells me that this device wasnt found. It show me and I Change choose it but tells me it wasnt found.
maybe becauce of another wwid?

Has anybody an idee what to do?
thanks in advance

The rescue mode has a full blown shell, you may be able to install the mutlipath tools or maybe to blacklist the second disk in lvm.

Hi Alwin, thank you for your answer. With Proxmox I´m not able to start a shell. It drops me to (intitramfs) with Debian10 I can boot a shell but i´m unable to chroot since i cant mount the lvm root filesystem

With rescue mode I meant the Proxmox VE ISO can run the install in debug mode and when you abort the wizard, you get dropped onto a full shell.

thanks again. But my problem is that I´m not able to mount the root volume and chroot to it while it isnt shown in /dev/pve.
But vgscan find it

is it possible that the problem is a second server? we have 8 Servers with same hardware. We are booting via FC from a lun.
This server isnt that one the master image was build. Is it possible that I need the host used by building this image to mount it manually?

If it's not the same LUN, then it should be an independent image.

You are still in the initramfs. When you use the Proxmox VE ISO, you can select the Install Proxmox VE (Debug Mode) and go through the boot till you see the wizard. Abort the wizard and it will drop you into a full shell (no initramfs).

If that is not working for you then you can just use any live boot disk where you can install packages if needed.
