Hello Team,
Installing on Hetzner server via KVM console and stuck on password + email page. Version 8.3.1 (latest)
I can not type @ (monkey) character which is required for email.

All other special characters are working, only that one is not.
I have tested many keyboards (standard is US), defined macro or sent text from KVM (displaying @ corectly).
Even installed karabiner-elements on my mac os to map to different keys - and always the same result : in my OS/KVM console it's correct, but when types into proxmox installer it looks like '' and is not accepted to proceed.

Please help, this looks ridiculus....

Tried also GUI installation (the above is CLI), but also pretty broken - stuck on user license agreement because can not scroll....
Trying to migrate from ESX, but my first impression: it's not really enterprise solution.....

Thanks,

Work-around might be to edit the mail@example.invalid before and after the @ and leave the @ untouched you don't have to type it.

The installer is indeed rather simplistic. Another work-around might be to install Debian first: https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/pve-admin-guide.html#_install_proxmox_ve_on_debian

I fail to see why your experience reflects on Proxmox, you have an obvious discrepancy with Hetzner's KVM console & your KEYB/s OS/s etc. If you chose a Debian installer with the same setup (Hetzner's KVM + your HW) can you type the "@" character with ease?

Seeing that Hetzner is a German outfit, have you tried pressing the AltGr + Q keys, as they are listed as the standard German layout by Wiki.
Alternately you could try pressing Alt + 64 which is the standard code for the "@" character. I don't use Mac OS so I looked it up here, & it appears to be Option + 0040 . Give it a try.

Good luck.

OK, team, its a bug but very easy to bypass (just to edit - not delete example email). Installation is success.

Yes - i did not have those problems with any other OS installed on bare metal, only proxmox, i can not exclude possibility that was something special in Hetzner KVM console.

I have already installed proxmox + deployed several networks, routing, firewalls - and all working fine. Looks like my first impression was not correct ;)
And the support here - amazing. Thanks a lot !!!
