Can I create a Cluster in order to manage the slave server with CURRENT KVMs inside?

Hello,

I have never managed to create a cluster so I have a question.
I have a server with guests inside and I want from this server to manage a second Proxmox node without the HA central storage.
The second server however has already some guests. Can the 2nd node be added to the 1st or it HAS to be empty of guests?
To rephrase, will he 2nd node loose its guests if I attempt to add it to the cluster?

always add empty nodes!
- backup current new node guests,
- delete them from new node,
- join the empty node to the clsuter,
- restore as new cluster guests

Ok I guess that is the only way forward.
Existing guests on the main (master) Proxmox are unaffected, correct?
