I'd like to start experimenting with 3.0RC2, but want to know if 2.3 and 3.0RC2 nodes can exist on the same cluster before deciding how to go about testing....

Thanks!

Mixing different versions is not tested (try to avoid that).

I tried this and i can confirm, stay far away from mixing. Initially cluster got confused as soon as i brought a new node with 3.0 RC online. If i directly log into the RC node it works fine but have much trouble talking to rest of the nodes. If i login from any other node in the cluster, the new one loses its identity and comes up with error. I also noticed several VM randomly got disconnected which is not good in a production environment.
But 3.0 RC has been so stable for me i converted ALL 2.x nodes to 3.0 RC. I know i took a chance but i trust it completely :). Not a single issue at all so far.
