Hi all,

I was wondering - with the current version of Proxmox, ceph storage back end, windows guest - is writeback cache method safe? Right now I'm using the default (no cache).. I noticed in the Win7 guest it recommends write back, but write back seems to be more risky then write through...

Hi,
safe in the interests of no data loosing if everything runs normal.
unsecure when power lost, but this is always the problem if you use cache and the cache have no power backup.
because the data are written in the cache first and later to the disk and this is not transactional.

So really, it'd be no different than a standard server without a battery backed storage controller.
