Hi,

I have a pve up and running since more than a year, works without problems with some VMs and lxc.

Now I tried to extend the host with an HBA-Controller, I am planning an NAS in a VM.
But as soon as I add this card to the Motherboard, the pve is not running as before.
It starts up, but is never connected to the network. There are no drives attached to the card right now.
Nothing else changed on the system, just adding the card.
When I remove the card from the Motherboard, the pve starts normal as before.

So far I tried these changes:
- With a 9400-16i-card from a friend. Same behaviour.
- Updated the pve from 8.4. to the new 9.1. Same behaviour.
- BIOS changes: Forcing usage of Integrated Graphic. Same behaviour.

My hardware:
- MB: Gigabyte B550I AORUS PRO AX 1.2
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with Radeon Graphics
- Only internal graphic, no extra card
- 2 NVME SSDs
- 32GB RAM

Any ideas how to solve the issue?
Thanks for any help!
Thanks

When you add a PCIe card the linux kernel may change device names. I think in your case the network adapter gets renamed and your network config refers to the old network card name. This can also happen when upgrading the kernel or systemd.

Either PIN your network interface before adding the PCIe card with pve-network-interface-pinning

Or change your network config manually after adding the PCIe card
- use ip link to geht your network interface names
- edit /etc/network/interfaces and change your old nic name to the new one
- reboot
- success!

Thank you, that was the issue.
Changed the network configuration and everything works now.
