Block Stroage in KVM Guests

Hello

Can we add block storage in KVM guests and make them available without reboot of KVM guest ? I have seen this feature in Openstack and looks very promising.

We are having iSCSI based storage and would like to implement this feature.

yes,
edit vm config file manually, and add

hotplug: 1

then add disk with gui like before. (this works also for nics)


(under linux guest, you need to load modules : acpiphp,pci_hotplug)

when I used SCSI as device type, it got added in the KVM and I can see and mount, but when I remove the disk image from the configuration and physically, I still see the block device available under KVM. But this is not true for virtio device type. Addition / removal works properly.

anybody faced such an issue ?

Maybe it's a bug, I'll retry tomorrow to be sure.
