Hi!
I am using the free Proxmox since several months very successful, as I like the possibility to use containers or be able to get on my host directly.
In the next few weeks I will hopefully be able to get my hands on some new hardware, where I will be able to use 6x3TB HDD drives, which I want to put into a RAID-Z2 pool. At that time I will also get a community licence, and this question is not a support request but rather an information about the best practice.
At the moment I have a HP Microserver with 4x3TB with a RAID5. The large volume is mounted onto the Proxmox host which is mainly mounted into some containers (Fileserver) and exported via NFS to another server, where the mounted NFS share is also put into some containers. I have done this that way to have the maximum flexibility and not have reserved to much space to one VM, which is then lacking on another one.
So, I would like to put the two servers into a new one, but what would be the best way to ensure the flexibility?
NFS-share on the Proxmox-host which is mounted on the VMs (no containers anymore) to export via CIFS or using the share (Mediaserver like Plex or Subsonic or Cloudserver)? Do you see a better way to be secure and flexible?
Regards,
Matthias
