Any recommendations on setting up raid stripe sizes? I've tried 4096k and 64k and both seem slow - i know the hardware i'm using will be resaonably slow but i'm trying to tune it for the best speed.

I read 128k or 512k is most performant stripe size. For RAID 5, smaller stripe sizes are usually slower due to more parityinformation. So bigger stripe sizes increase IO performance but I guess the only way to find out is, to test each specific RAID setup. If you can't measure any improvement I guess hardware limits.
