Backups on cheap USB Hard Drive.

I just wanna do my Backups to a WesternDigital external Hard Drive. Easy an simple, so far so god. I tried to connect Proxmox via CIFS to my Fritz Box Nas, but an error was the consequence, and i think that the best choise is the direct connection between my Nuc and the HD.

What can i do ? -

mount your USB HDD on the PVE and add a directory storage what use the path of the USB HDD
