Backup retention - Storage vs Backup

I have a Proxmox VE 7.2-7 setup. I have setup NFS storage and added a new backup plan. I found two retention settings in both Storage and in the Backup I created. I wonder what's the relationship will be between them? Thanks.

The backup retention of the storage will be used as a fallack in you don't define a backup retention for the backup job. Otherwise it will be ignored.
