Backup retention issues. [ A bit confusion! ]

Hi there
I am using PBS 2.4-2.
And when I set the backup schedules, even putting it to retain for 1 week, every day it deletes the previous backup and is retaining only one of the day.
Perhaps I should use this:
prune-backups keep-daily=7,keep-weekly=1
instead of this
prune-backups keep-weekly=1
???

Anyone else had this problem?

You can simulate the prune backup [0] as you prefer.
Yes! I did.
But nervertheless I am still confused.
If I want to keep 1 week backup, i.e. the entire 7 days, so I need to make backup every 7 days, right?
And have one to keep the entire week.
And then have a GC and prune job task to clean up the old ones.
I hope I made myselh clear enough.
Thanks for the help.

You can run your backups every day and when the prune schedule runs it will prune whatever you set it at. In your case if you only want weekly backups then set to keep weekly. Just set it number of weekly you want to keep. It will prune the rest.

I set my prune to run on Saturday nights so that way I have my daily backups during the week just in case.

Also, don't forget to schedule garbage collection as it's not scheduled by default.
