backup / restore old vm from old proxmox to new

Hello, i have a machine with an old proxmox 1.9, recently i buy a new machine and i would install last proxmox.
Can I backup vm machine from 1.9 and restore in new proxmox? Or vm machine not working correctly???

the machine they are to be converted in some way?

Normally a backup and restore should work fine.
As your making a big version jump and it's dependent of a lot of factors a totally flawless and smooth process cannot be guaranteed to 100%.

Not to scare you, normally it works quite well

But if there is some problem, i think that i can recreate new machine from proxmox gui and attach virtual disk extracted from old backup if this is the way. With old proxmox manual interventions/hack they were possible (and i think with last one)
