Backup issues, VMs cannot power down

I have 3 hosts running some VMs each (2 over one site, 1 another site) and everything is fine but I am experiencing backup issues. I am attaching one of the logs. Apparently the VMs sometimes cannot power down, from the log I see there is a power down attempt for 10 minutes, and then the error.

This is happening on all 3 hosts but it's totally random: not every day, not all hosts, not always the same VMs. I have no idea of what's going on and so I am asking for an opinion. I have tried researching the issue and the first advice is to check on the guest agent, which I can assure is installed on every single VM...

any hint will be appreciated, thank you all.

for the sake of information, I have figured it out, or better, just found a workaround. I changed the backup job to snapshot mode (instead of stop mode) and I haven't had an issue since days. go figure.
